I'm suppose to go to work (yes, even on a Sunday) yesterday but I opted to extend my work hours on Saturday so I would not have to come to work on the big day.. that is Manny Pacquiao's match with Mexico's Erik Morales. January pa lang sa second fight nila, I'm already anticipating this Grand Finale, not that I was excited to bet again (because every Manny's game gives me money) but more because I was wondering if Manny can get quicker, stronger, & better than what he already is.. Surprisingly, he does get even better every time he enters the ring. Yesterday, I woke up early to catch the big game.. I know I will be watching on tv on a delayed telecast but I wanted to see the game pa rin kahit alam ko nang panalo siya. My friend who is in the States gave me the latest update as he was watching it live there (with inom at inihaw na talaba, ininggit pako ng true-blue Noypi na friend kong ito)
Galing! yun ang nasabi ko sa performance (naks, performance daw talaga oh!) ni Manny. Kawawa! yan naman ang nasabi ko kay Erik Morales. He could have saved his already hall-of-fame-career blossoms but pride took him down where he shouldn't be. I could not say he put up a good fight. 2nd round palang knock down na sya. At sa 3rd round nga e hindi na nya kinaya ang mga suntok ng ating Pambansang Kamao. He gave in with a sobbing look in his eyes. Naawa ako more than nabilib.
But at the end of the day, it was not about Erik. It was about Manny & everyone else's triumph. We did it again, and another traffic- free, reason giving Sunday to be even proud na maging Pinoy! wUhoOooo!!!
